I have a couple of other large sets of coloured pencils by different brands but these pencils definitely outshine them. They are so vibrant make easy to lay down and blend colour. I would recommend them to anyone.

I got my Halawa Colored Pencils today. Yesterday, I laid down a wash of water color and some #2 pencil. I started with my cat's face. He's cream, and I wanted more color. I fixed it with workable fixative and when I got my Halawa pencils today (pronounced Ha La Vah, it means to sin, to trespass against someone, to regret a crime... From the Hawai'ian language. The big prison in downtown Honolulu is named Halawa! Interestingly enough, huhu is Hawai'ian pidgin for being 'super angry, hopping mad'. I used to live on Oahu. My buddy was a nurse at the Halawa. ) The Halawa pencils worked fine over the fixative. The colors are much brighter than in the photo. They blend really well, and they were not breaking all over the place when I sharpened them to a pin point (Afmat sharpeners will do that!) I was very impressed. I had been using Derwent Chromaflow and Prismacolors since I was 14. (That was 50 yrs ago! You never lose the urge to make art if you look at the world and see the artistic possibilities..) The Halawa pencils feel smoother! I did not expect that. I had oil colored pencils before and did not like them very much. These are great. No need for oil, turps, or alcohol to blend. The colors are vivid and distinct. A lot of cheerful tropical vibes and candy delicious. SO easy to work with, you don't have to press hard either. Sometimes you put a pencil in your hand and suddenly get inspired. Life is short, make art. People have been making art since there have been people on earth. It's time to make your mark.

I'm no expert, I just enjoy colouring, and these are so nice! They sharpen so well, only had a couple broken tips, but in the short time I've had them you can see how much I've been using them! The colour builds up really nicely, blending is a dream, and them being numbered, same as Ohuhu markers, is useful when needing to remember what I used. My main concern is what I'm going to do when they run down!!

I started purchasing Ohuhu products three years ago and havent stopped since. My favorites to use at the moment are the Ohuhu honolulu B alcohol markers and these lovelyyyyyy colored pencils!

The pencils are strongly pigmented and require little pressure for nice coverage. They work greatly with the alcohol markers to add more details and texture to your drawings. I totally recommend as the price/quality is amazing.

Ok, so I'm rusty, and just getting back to art. These pencils are fantastic, even on cheap paper. They blend like magic, and layer wonderfully. The packaging is beautiful and convenient to work out of. You guys knocked it out of the park with these!!
